MRB Biotechnology is committed to undertaking a significant investment project to establish a cutting-edge agricultural research and development (R&D) center in Romania. This project, with a total investment of €10 million, is being pursued to access European funding programs for Research and Development, demonstrating our commitment to innovation and sustainable agriculture within the European Union.
Project Overview:
The project involves the development of a comprehensive facility spanning 20,000 square meters, comprising three key components:
⦁ Advanced Laboratory Facilities (2,000 sqm): This state-of-the-art laboratory will serve as the core of our R&D activities. It will be designed to accommodate a wide range of analyses and research areas, including:
⦁ Microbiology: Dedicated spaces for microbial isolation, identification, characterization, and strain improvement. Equipped with advanced microscopy, culturing systems, and molecular biology tools.
⦁ Molecular Biology and Biotechnology: Facilities for genetic analysis, gene editing (e.g., CRISPR), genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics research.
⦁ Soil and Plant Analysis: Comprehensive analytical capabilities for soil nutrient profiling, heavy metal analysis, plant tissue analysis, and other relevant parameters.
⦁ Plant Pathology and Entomology: Dedicated sections for pathogen and pest identification, diagnostics, and biocontrol research.
⦁ Formulation and Quality Control: Facilities for developing and testing biofertilizer, biostimulant, and biopesticide formulations.
Controlled Environment Greenhouses (18,000 sqm): A large complex of advanced greenhouses will provide precise control over environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, light, CO2) for plant growth and experimentation. These greenhouses will enable:
⦁ Year-Round Crop Trials: Conducting trials under controlled conditions, regardless of external weather patterns.
⦁ Stress Testing: Evaluating plant responses to various abiotic stresses (e.g., drought, salinity, heat) and biotic stresses (pests and diseases).
⦁ Germplasm Evaluation and Improvement: Screening and selecting for desirable traits in different crop varieties.
⦁ Optimized Growth Protocols: Developing and refining optimal growth protocols for various crops using advanced climate control and precision irrigation systems.
⦁ Scaling up production of beneficial microorganisms and plant material for product development
⦁ Agricultural Testing Land (1000 ha): A dedicated area of 1000 hectares will be used for field trials and large-scale testing of developed products and technologies. This will allow for:
⦁ Real-World Validation: Assessing the performance of biofertilizers, biostimulants, and biopesticides and other agricultural inputs under field conditions.
⦁ Demonstration and Training: Showcasing the benefits of MRB Biotechnology products and providing training to farmers and agricultural professionals.
⦁ Data Collection and Analysis: Gathering comprehensive data on crop yields, quality, and environmental impact.
Investment Objectives and Expected Outcomes:
This €10 million investment project aims to:
⦁ Advance Agricultural Research and Innovation: Develop cutting-edge solutions for sustainable crop production.
⦁ Enhance Product Development: Create and optimize novel biofertilizers, biostimulants, and biopesticides.
⦁ Promote Sustainable Agricultural Practices: Reduce reliance on synthetic inputs and minimize environmental impact.
⦁ Strengthen European Agricultural Competitiveness: Contribute to the development of a more sustainable and resilient European agricultural sector.
⦁ Create Jobs and Economic Growth: Generate employment opportunities in the region and contribute to economic development.
By combining advanced laboratory facilities, controlled environment greenhouses, and dedicated testing land, MRB Biotechnology’s new R&D center in Romania will be a leading hub for agricultural innovation. This project, aimed at accessing dedicated European funds, underscores our commitment to developing sustainable solutions for the future of agriculture.
